juanita bay park

i've been wanting to go back to juanita bay park since drew got his 6 month pictures taken here back in november. now, almost 6 months later (and much warmer) we went back. it's a beautiful park in kirkland - big open field for grady to run in, trees to climb, logs to jump, and a couple bridges that lead out to the water where we checked out the lilly pads, ducks, and turtles.

one of my favorites

in the tree - not sure how i got a smile - lasted about 0.5 sec and then he was scared and begging to get down.

grady was begging for bubbles
since we walked out the door to leave

drew loves them too!

drew and hudson

My friend Jami and her little man, Hudson, came to visit the other day. Hudson is about 4 months younger than Drew, but about 4 times as active! He reminded me of Grady when he was a baby - so Jami definitely has her work cut out for her keeping up with him! Drew hasn't been around many babies his age, so it was fun to watch the boys interact :)

these next two just cracked me up

sunday fun day

yesterday we went to the annual skagit valley tulip festival in mount vernon. after 5 years of living here we had never gone. we were warned not to go on the weekend because it is so busy and we'd be stuck in traffic for hours, but didn't know if we'd all get to go on a weekday. so we just decided to go early in hopes to beat the traffic. well, traffic was great, however, I was looking forward to the good photo opportunity, but taking pictures between 11am & 1pm is about the worst time of day to take pics (especially when it's sunny). would love to go back in the evening sometime to get some great pictures :)
grady and drew both had a great time. grady watched the many airplanes and helicopters that flew by overhead, ran up and down the tulip rows while I tried to chase him out (you're not suppose to go down the rows-off limits, but not well-enforced), and sniffed (more like blew snot) on all the red tulips and said "mmm, smell good"! drew just wanted to eat dirt/mud when he was on the ground, so he spent most of the time in the stroller :)

watching a helicopter fly overhead

a few people walked by when he was sitting  there and said "oooh, look at the cute baby"! then seconds after this he shoved a fistful of mud in his mouth.

attempt at a family photo

after seeing the tulips, we decided to go to deception pass as well since we were already about halfway there. another place we had always wanted to see but not been yet. once we got there we walked a little ways out on the bridge (there is a very narrow pass you can walk down), but that was very short-lived. I freaked out. very long way down, and even though there are bared fences on each side, not a place I wanted my children. so we headed down the path that led to the beach below. that was way more fun and a nice short hike :) grady could have stayed there for hours throwing rocks and squealing.

eating rocks - yum! can't keep your eyes off this guy for a second.

grady freaked out when the waves came from a boat
that drove by, so he ran to hide behind dad.

we had so much fun on a beautiful april day - it hit 75 degrees - love it! by the time we left it was around one, past nap time, and the boys were over-tired and hungry. grady threw a little fit on the way out. it was worth it though ;)
